Tecumsehs Pull Out Victory in Bottom of Seventh Inning
Friday night the Belore Trailers Major Rookie REP Ironbirds travelled to London to square off against the Tecumsehs.
The Ingersoll boys jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when Colten Cumberland lead off with a single and scored on a RBI single by Westin Matsumoto. Matsumoto advanced to third when Charlie Ashman hit a long single, then eventually scored when Ryan Wolfe ripped a single up the middle to give the Ironbirds a 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the second London tied the score up at 2-2 only to lose it in the top half of the third when Nathan Kapitor, Matsumoto and Wolfe scored on back to back singles by Declan Minielly and Brandon Plaquet. London chipped away at the Ironbird lead in the fourth and fifth inning then to eventually take the lead in the bottom half of the sixth inning 7-6. In the top of the seventh inning Kapitor singled advanced to third, and scored when Charlie Ashman line drive found some daylight in the outfield to tie the game 7-7. In the final frame the Ironbirds looking to secure the tie, worked to get the lead off hitter out, then gave up back to singles that allowed the Tecumsehs to walk off with the 8-7 win. The Defensive Players of the Game were the four outfielders who did a fantastic job catching some tough pop flies & making great relays plays from the outfield. Ironbird shout out goes to Brandon Plaquet, Colten Cumberland, Owen Vanderbaan and Colten Macpherson.
