Simcoe Giants Tournament RecapSaturday morning the boys opened with the LaSalle Titans. A great defensive game which saw the boys play errorless ball they defeated LaSalle 15-1. In the final game of the round robin game the Ironbirds faced the Royal York Cardinals who were also undefeated in pool play 2-0. The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Ironbirds answered back quickly with two runs of their own. Ingersoll took a 4-2 lead going into the sixth inning, but a few errors in the outfield and infield allowed Royal York to take a 9-5 victory and advance onto the top seed of the tournament.
Sunday morning playoff game the Ironbirds faced the Kitchener Panthers. A tough start to the game with the Panthers finding the holes in the infield and an costly bounce on the edge of the outfield pushed the ball deep in the outfield allowing Kitchener to a 5-0 lead.
Ingersoll fought back throughout the game with some strong defensive innings and chipped away at the lead and managed to get it to two runs at one point, but a tough sixth inning allowed Kitchener to open the score with five runs to win the game 12-4.
