IRONBIRDS GRAB FIRST PLACE IN INTER-COUNTY LEAGUE
Ironbird Pee Wee's Defeat London Badgers to Take Top Spot

Wednesday night's highly anticipated first place match up between the London Badgers and the hometown Ingersoll Ironbirds didn't disappoint the large crowd at the "Vic".
Lefty starter Zack Fishback cruised through the first inning with two strikeouts and set the tone that the Ironbirds were ready a tough game. In the bottom half of the first the Ironbirds threatened to start the scoring when Gavin Bryant led off with a walk, Davin Gray singled, but London's starting pitcher settled in and got some tough outs keeping the score 0-0.  In the top of the second London scored after a lead off single, a sac bunt and a RBI single, then managed to take a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth.
Tye House led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk then stole second, Gavin Bryant stepped up and shot a liner through the gap to score House.  Gray then scorched an RBI double down the line to give the Ironbirds a 3-2 lead.  Nolan McCrossin reached base with a single setting the table for clean up hitter Zack Fishback to open the game up for the home side.  Fishback took a 2-2 pitch into the right field corner to score two runs on his base clearing triple to give the Ironbirds a 6-2 lead, but the Ironbirds weren't done yet.  Wyatt Adkins brough Fishback across the plate with a double down the line.  Fishback left the game pitching five complete innings, striking out seven and surrendering three hits.  McCrossin wasted no time on the mound striking out the side in his one inning of work.  In the bottom half of the sixth inning the Ironbirds were able to add another six runs capped off by a two run home run by McCrossin that ended the game in a 12-2 mercy.
With the run the Ironbirds took sole possession of first place in the Inter-County league.
Ingersoll travels to Waterloo on Wednesday before returning home on Thursday to take on the Guelph Royals.
