Inter-County Finalists
Tier 1 Pee Wee Boys Finish Second Place at Inter-County Championships

This past weekend the Macnab Transit Pee Wee Tier 1 baseball team wrapped up their season at the Inter-County Championships.
Ingersoll opened with the Cambridge Cubs and behind the arms of Nolan McCrossin (4 innings) and Tye House (3 innings) came away with a 6-2 victory. Leading the offensive charge was Eli Newson, Nolan McCrossin, Tye House, Davin Gray & Gavin Bryant (2 hits) and Wyatt Adkins, Zack Fishback and Evan Hopson with 1 hit apiece.

Saturday morning the Ironbirds faced rival London Badgers which was a pitchers duel the first four innings between Ingersoll's Zack Fishback and London's Carson Lumley.  After five innings the game was tied 2-2. In the sixth inning Ingersoll misfired on some defensive opportunities that London took advantage of scoring six runs, and then another four runs in the final inning to win the game 13-3.  Lumley did a fantastic job keeping the Ingersoll bats silent as they only were able to muster up three hits off (Wyatt Adkins - 2 doubles and Nolan McCrossin - 1) of Lumley.

Saturday afternoon southpaw Evan Hopson took the bump to keep the Ironbirds playoff hopes moving forward. Hopson fumbled in the first inning surrendering two runs, but was stellar in his next four innings not allowing any Brantford Red Sox runs to score.   Wyatt Adkins came in the final inning to lock down the Ironbird win.   Ingersoll's bats woke up in this game as Eli Newson went four for four, Gavin Bryant, Nolan McCrossin, Zack Fishback (2 hits), Tye House, Evan Hopson, Benham Martin and Alex Schuett provided base hits in the Ingersoll win.

Sunday morning's highly anticipated Semi Final re-match between the Ironbirds and the Badgers had both teams with 2-1 record, and the loser of this game forced to go home.   Once again the Fishback vs. Lumley pitching match up set the stage for an exciting Semi Final game.
Ingersoll's lead off hitter Gavin Bryant worked a spectacular seven pitch walk that set the tone for Ingersoll as they were dialed in for this game. Next up.. Davin Gray who slapped a hard single through the right side of the infield to advance Bryant to third base. McCrossin crushed a liner to the outfield to score Bryant and have Gray advance to third. Adkins then walked to load the bases to give Evan Hopson an opportunity to score another run. Hopson worked a tough at bat, then took a 2-2 fastball over second base to give the Ironbirds a 2-0 lead.   That was enough support to let Fishback go to work. Fishback made quick work of the Badgers in the first four shut out innings.   In the top of the fourth inning a lead off double by Adkins, Tye House hit an RBI single over the first baseman's head to give the Ironbirds a 3-0 lead.  Ingersoll pushed the lead to 4-0 behind Bryant's single , stolen base and Davin Gray's double down the third base line.   In the bottom half of the 5th inning Fishback struck out the first batter, then gave up back to back singles.   Ingersoll  then intentionally walked Ingersoll native Seth Hedges to load the bases with one out. Fishback struck out the next batter in dramatic fashion then secured an infield pop up to fire up the Ironbird boys to get out of a tough inning. Ingersoll was able to get their final run across when Gray scored on a McCrossin single.
McCrossin came in the game for relief securing the save for the Ingersoll squad in the 5-1 victory.

Sunday afternoon's final was a repeat match up of last years final against the Waterloo Tigers. McCrossin continued to take to the mound for the Ironbirds and had a tough two inning outing before he was forced out of the game due to a pitch count.  Hopson came in and once again was stellar in this five innings of work with his only miscue was a two run home run surrendered in the sixth inning. Down 4-2 in the 5th inning Ingersoll mounted a comeback with runners on first and third with the heart of the order due up. McCrossin torched a liner that Waterloo's second baseman made a spectacular grab and quick throw to first to complete the double play and avoid a big inning.   Waterloo went on to secure the back to back Championship over Ingersoll with a 6-2 victory.
