Final Week - Inter-County Action
Ironbirds Wrapping Up League Play

This past week the Ingersoll Ironbirds completed three of their final four Inter-County League action.
Tuesday night the Ironbirds travelled to London to take on the Badgers. Ingersoll jumped out early on back to back doubles from Nolan McCrossin and Zack Fishback.   London answered in the bottom half of the third inning when they scored four runs off Ironbird starter McCrossin.  Leading 6-3 going into the top half of the seventh inning Ingersoll came up short as they pushed across two more runs to lose 6-5.
Friday night the Ironbirds hosted the Cambridge Cubs and came away with an 11-4 victory. Winning pitcher for Ingersoll was Zack Fishback with Wyatt Adkins recording the save.  Picking up hits for Ingersoll were Adkins / Fishback / McCrossin (double & single each) Tye House, Davin Gray, Gavin Bryant and Eli Newson.
Wednesday night the Ironbirds hosted the Kitchener Panthers on the north side of town at Garnet Elliott Park.  Starter Evan Hopson came out of the gates very sharp and efficient, and in the top half of the second inning the Ironbird defense made four errors in the field to surrender five runs. Ingersoll was able to manage to score in their bottom half when McCrossin jacked a solo shot over the left field safety netting.  Kitchener was able to push aside another run in their top half.  Eli Newson entered the game and stopped the bleeding for the Ironbirds when he shut them out behind some key outs.  In the bottom half Ingersoll was able to score two more runs behind Evan Hopson double, Alex Schuett and Davin Gray's back to back singles. McCrossin entered the game in relief in the top half of the fifth inning and picked up where Newson left off closing the door on any Kitchener momentum.  The bottom half of the fifth and sixth inning the Ironbirds were able to bat around the line up in both innings behind multiple singles from Bryant, Gray, Adkins, McCrossin, House, Hopson, Newson and a highlight base clearing triple from Schuett.
Ingersoll made a spectacular turnaround winning the game 17-7 in six innings.

The Ironbirds host the Brantford Red Sox tonight at 8:15pm (Victoria Park) in the last game of the Regular Season.
