Ironbirds Open Intercounty Season with a Split
Opening Week

The Macnab Transit Pee Wee Tier 1 REP team opened their Intercounty Baseball Season with a split.
Wednesday night the Ironbirds travelled to Brantford to take on the Red Sox.  The Ironbirds jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind the Bash Brothers - Nolan McCrossin and Zack Fishback (2 RBI's each).  Starting pitcher McCrossin was able to settle in after a tough first and second inning where Brantford was able to secure a 5-4 lead.  Ingersoll tied it up in the top half of the 3rd inning. McCrossin was relieved by Fishback who cruised through his first two innings and then allowed three runs as Brantford capitalized on consecutive Ironbird errors.  Down 10-8 in the bottom half of the sixth inning Evan Hopson came into keep the Red Sox hitters silent, but was unable to hit his spots and allowed the Red Sox to score a few more runs.  In the top half of the 7th the Ironbirds were able to load the bases with none out, but only could squander two additional runs and settling on a loss.
Picking up hits were Alex Schuett, Eli Newson, Tye House, Gavin Bryant, Zack Fishback, Benham Martin, Nolan McCrossin and Wyatt Adkins.

Thursday night the Ironbirds had a quick turnaround as they travelled to Cambridge to take on the Cubs.  Starting pitcher Evan Hopson ran into a tough first inning as two errors turned into two runs. Hopson was able to settle in after the first and pitch 5 innings, striking out 6 batters giving up 3 hits.  The Ironbirds broke open in the 3rd inning when McCrossin hit a solo shot to right center field, then carried the momentum into the fourth where Ingersoll scored an additional four runs.  Benham Martin picked up the save pitching two solid innings giving up 1 hit and 1 strike out.  The Ironbirds won the contest 6-3.  Picking up hits for the Ironbirds were McCrossin (HR), Gavin Bryant (2B), Wyatt Adkins, Evan Hopson, Zack Fishback and Benham Martin.
