Macnab Boys Bring Home Gold at Lasalle Tournament
Another weekend.... another tournament championship for the Macnab Transit Major Pee Wee Team. The Macnab boys captured the Lasalle Titans "AA" Tournament title this past weekend defeating the Tecumseh Rangers 11-4.
Tecumseh jumped out to an early 3- 0 in the top half of the first behind some Ironbird miscues and some timely singles. Ingersoll answered back when Gavin Bryant led off with a single, stole second and scored on Nolan McCrossin infield put out. In the top half of the second inning starting pitcher Zack Fishback started to find his groove as he went 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and striking out five. It was the spectacular diving catch along the backstop that Gavin Bryant made that fired up his troops and swing the momentum back to the Ironbirds! In the bottom half of the inning Eli Newson, Tye House, Davin Gray and Evan Hopson hit four straight singles to push across another run before McCrossin and Fishback's consecutive singles gave the Ironbirds a seven run inning! After striking out his last batter in the top of the 5th inning, the Ironbirds turned the ball over to McCrossin who went 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and striking out five hitters. Ingersoll managed to push across three more runs giving them the 11-4 Championship victory.
