IRONBIRDS DEFEAT NATIONALS IN RUBBER MATCH
Ironbirds Rally in Late Innings to Secure Victory

Thursday night the Belore Trailers Minor Mosquito hosted the North London Nationals in the regular season match up.  Both teams were able to defeat each other on the road, and this game was an important one not only in the standings, but also from a tie break standpoint.
Taking the bump for the Ironbirds was southpaw Colten "CC" Cumpberland who pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings surrendering one hit, five walks and striking out four.
Ingersoll's bats in the first four innings were unable to figure out the Nationals fireballer as they combined for 8 K's in the first five innings.  The Ironbirds were able to score an early run in the second inning when Declan Minelly walked, stole second and third and eventually scored on a pass ball.
In the bottom half of the 5th inning leading 1-0, Minielly led off and Colton Macpherson both walked and advanced with a double steal and scored on Brody Huitema's fielders choice / pass ball to take a 3-0 lead.  Relief pitcher Declan Minielly was cruising in his relief of 2 2/3 innings of work compiling six strikeouts and giving up one hit.  In the top of the 7th inning Gavin Wright hit a one out single up the middle, followed by back to back RBI line shot singles by Sam House and Westin Matsumoto.  Consecutive walks by Charlie Ashman and Minielly loaded the bases for Colton Macpherson who scorched a triple in the gap to clear the bases and give the Ironbirds an 8-0 lead going into the final frame.
Minielly recorded two quick outs before walking and giving up a hit before he reached his 70 pitch count.  Ryan Wolfe was called from the Ironbird bullpen to close out the game. Wolfe did a great job walking one and striking out the final out to give the Ironbirds a 8-1 victory.
The Ironbirds next game is Wednesday at 6:00pm at home vs. Ilderton A's
