Nationals Defeat Ironbirds in Final Inning

Tuesday Night the Belore Trailers Major Rookie Ironbirds travelled to London to take on the Nationals.  The Ironbirds were looking to erase the 15-2 defeat that they were handed the last time the two teams squared off. In a tightly contested defensive match up the Nationals led 4- 0 after four innings.  Ingersoll scored its first run in the fifth inning when Colten Cumberland led off with a single, then later scored when Tanner Belore ripped a single down the third base line.  The Ironbird defense stood tall in the 5th inning with a three up three down inning, that turned into a three run scoring half inning when Sam House, Colton Macpherson and Charlie Ashman all scored.  In the seventh inning down by three following a Nationals big inning in the sixth, the Ironbirds once again answered the bell and notched three more runs when Belore, Declan Minielly and Owen Vanderbaan scored.  Tied in the bottom the seventh inning the Nationals led off with a single, advanced the runner to second on a sacrifice.  A single that found a hole on the left side scored the winning run giving the Nationals a 8-7 victory.
Defensive player of the game was Colton Macpherson who played a strong and steady centerfield and backstop Brandon Plaquet who made an athletic catch behind the play as well as strong play at the plate to prevent a National run.  Offensive Player of the Game with three hits for the Ironbirds was Sam House.

Next up for the Ironbirds is the Lucan-Ilderton A's on Sunday.
