Ironbirds Cruise Past Diamondbacks
IRONBIRDS WIN TWO IN A ROW!
Sunday night the Belore Trailers Ironbirds Major Rookie REP team travelled to Dorchester to take on the Diamondbacks. In the top half of the first inning the Ironbirds tagged Dorchester for seven runs that was topped off by Charlie Ashman's three run homer to score Colton Macpherson and Westin Matsumoto. In the bottom half of the first some spectacular defense from Sam House spearing a line drive at short, and Nathan Kapitor throwing a bullet to Macpherson to throw out a Diamondback at second base fired up the young Ironbird squad. In the top half of the second and third inning seven consecutive hits pushed the Ironbirds to back to back seven run innings. In the top half of the fifth inning Ashman a triple away from the cycle belted out another home run to extend his production that night to eight RBI's. Leading the offensive attack was Ashman and Declan Minielly with four hits apiece, and House, Macpherson, Matsumoto, Ryan Wolfe, Colten Cumberland, Kapitor, Brandon Plaquet, and Tanner Belore with three hits each. The Defensive Player of the Game was Westin Matsumoto who made some great catches at first base and some shoe lace catches in centerfield. Final score Ingersoll 26 Dorchester 6.
The Ironbirds push their season record to 6-4 overall, and travel to North London where they try to avenge last week's loss.
