Ironbirds Defeat London Badgers & Guelph Royals
Ironbirds Grab Two Wins This Week
Thursday night the Macnab Transit Pee Wee's hosted the London Badgers Thursday night. Ingersoll jumped out to a quick lead posting 17 runs in the games first two innings. Ingersoll went on to win the game in five innings by a score of 18-3. Leading the way for Ingersoll was Nolan McCrossin and Zack Fishback with 3 hits & 4 RBI's each. Alex Schuett, Eli Newson collected 2 hits, and Wyatt Adkins, Tye House, Adam VanDyk, Benham Martin and Gavin Bryant all picked up additional hits. Winning pitcher Zack Fishback went 4 1/3 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 7 Badger hitters.
Monday night the Ironbird Pee Wee team travelled to Guelph and faced a tough Royals squad. Ingersoll only managed to collect four hits (Fishback - 3 & Hopson - 1), but behind solid pitching and excellent defense were able to grind out a 4-2 win.
Tied 2-2 after the 5th inning, Fishback hit a two out double to get the inning going, followed by a House walk, Evan Hopson stepped up and drove a two out double to the left centre gap to score two runs to give the Ironbirds the lead.
Eli Newson got the victory pitching 3 innings and giving up one run and Nolan McCrossin secured the save with is 1.1 innings pitched.
Guelph returns to Ingersoll Thursday night .... First pitch is set for 6:00pm
